Photography has been Robert Cartwright’s passion ever since he was given a Kodak Baby Hawkeye camera in 1950. Trained as an Electrical Engineer, Robert was made redundant in 1978 and turned his back on the profession in favour of a new career in photography, creating images for promoting Staffordshire as a tourist destination.

At this time, along with his wife Alison, Robert presented an audio-visual entertainment and soon became a regular presenter at many clubs and societies in the area. For eight seasons he was invited by Saga Holidays to provide an evening entertainment for their holiday makers staying at Keele University.

Expanding his portfolio into the medium of video documentary, resulted in Robert commissioning the Staffordshire University Video Unit to make a series of programmes about the lost railways of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. For these Robert conducted the research and wrote the scripts. They were highly acclaimed by the railway press and were sold nation wide.

The Exhibition will run from 2 July 2012 – 31st July 2012. Artworx Gallery, Cannock, Staffordshire is open to the public Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.30pm and Saturdays 9.00am – 5.00pm with free car parking.
