Shazia – Spring Collection 2012

Her contemporary art work is instantly recognisable with the focus on children. Each piece is told like a story, revealing each character and emotion through a single snap shot. Shazia has released two new highly collectable signed limited edition prints and with an exclusive edition number of just 50 and so these pieces will not be available for long.  Both pieces are available from Artworx Gallery, Cannnock.

Alvi by Shazia
This piece by Shazia is very different from her usual style, whilst she has still concentrated on a childlike figure, there is something special about this piece. She had used a muted colour palette and a striking composition that gives Alvi a delicate yet confident sense of character. Shazia talks about the piece, “Her hair follows in twists and turns behind her, trapping the tiny moths like light. She is an honest painting, patiently painted and always with the heart in mind. She reminds me of a ship’s figure head guiding you to safety.”

Brothers‘ is a charming piece of contemporary art work and a fantastic talking point in any home. The limited edition piece brings humour the notion of ‘brotherly love’, we all argue with our siblings or friends when we are young, but when it boils down to it, we love each other and wouldn’t dream of spending time with anyone else. The artists adds her thoughts on the piece, “A follow up to ‘Sisters’, Brothers shows the same love and conflict as the sisters painting. There is an element of cheekiness in the characters but at the same time the pull and twists of the hair is a kindly reminder of the relationship between siblings or best friends.”
