Exclusive Frogman – Gold Rush and Midas Touch

Tim Cotterill’s bronze frog sculptures are known for their lovable characters, exquisite colour and skilful craftsmanship. Leicester born artist, Tim Cotterill  designs these stunning and elegant limited edition bronze sculptures in his California based studio. Tim’s work is collected worldwide with a huge following and critical acclaim. His unique sculptures make the perfect gift for any special occasion, and with a wide range of colours, sizes and charismatic poses there is always a frog to make you smile. Following his engineering education , Tim, who is also known as  The Frogman, has always been intrigued with metalworking and has devoted himself solely to the creation of his unique bronze sculptures.

Tim talks about his work, “Frogs are fun creatures!  I have tried to capture their individual spirit, their fun, and their joy. Life is fun! I hope my art brings more happiness and joy into your life.”

Tim begins the creative process with a detailed sketch and prototype of the frog. Following a lengthy process called the lost wax casting technique where molten bronze is used to create the sculpture. The final stages where the colour patina is added, really bringing each piece of work to life.

In celebration for Spring 2012, Tim Cotterill has released two new frogs which are each part of a very small worldwide edition, making them even more rare and unique. Gold Rush and Midas Touch both feature a striking ‘crackle’ colour patina technique. Whilst the surface of the sculpture is smooth the technique gives a fantastic crackled texture and added depth to the colour. This only enhances each frog as it sets its sights for an alluring polished bronze snail. The leaves on both sculptures have been created using silver nitrate giving the palm a multi-tonal finish.
