Rolf Harris Summer Release 2011

Rolf Harris is one of the most sought after living artists of our time, his stunning impressionistic paintings are favoured by so many and even after his many years in the public spotlight he is still a down to earth gentleman. Artworx Gallery had the recent pleasure of meeting the artistic legend, and it was clear he is deeply passionate and devoted to his art.

Rolf Harris has released two signed limited edition prints for his Summer Release, which are already creating a stir in the art world. These sensational works of art capture an impressionistic view of the animal kingdom. His work showcases a fantastic essence of movement, along with depth of colour as he highlights colours the human eye could not comprehend. His newest pieces concentrate on animals in open water, what is most impressive about these paintings, is his ability to create realistic reflections to echo the surrounding landscape. Harris has used complimentary colours in the background of each painting and juxtaposed it with the wildlife.

Born in Australia, he moved to England during the 50’s to study the arts, under impressionistic painter ‘Bill’ Hayward Veal, where he was taught, “Instead of painting isolated individual parts, tackle the whole canvas all the time.” This ethos is still influential on his work to this day. Whilst Rolf is known for his TV shows and musical collaborations, Harris has always turned back to his fascination of painting.
